The OSUB Plus kit is an upgrade of the OSUB 40W pocket mod. It has 40W more power output and features two V8 Baby-Q2 coil heads. SMOK claimed this kit as the best creation they have. Let’s find out how this kit performs and see if SMOK will live up to its claim.

Unboxing the SMOK OSUB Plus starter kit, its contents include the Brit Beast sub-ohm tank, OSUB Plus TC Mod, 0.4ohm V8 Baby Q2 Core, micro-USB charging/upgrading Cable, replacement glass tube, spare parts mini bag and user manual.

OSUB Plus TC Mod

Unboxing the OSUB Plus mod, it measures 75mm x 25mm x 54.5 mm, which is marginally larger than the OSUB 40W. It has a 3300mah battery, enough to last a day of vaping. And features a zinc alloy enclosure, giving it a tough looking finish. In essence, the same rounded OSUB shape of its predecessor has been incorporated by the OSUB Plus mod.

The Plus Kit is provided with a temperature control mode that ranges from 200℉-600℉. And offers the resistance ranging from 0.1ohm to 3ohm (VW) and 0.06ohm to 2ohm (TC).

The OSUB Plus mod bears a 3300mah battery that reaches 80W at max and a range of 0.8V-9.0V. This is a non-removable battery, the mod itself is the power source.

To recharge the OSUB Plus mod, locate the micro-USB port directly below the two buttons near the OLED display screen. This micro-USB port is also used for upgrading the mod’s firmware, just simply plug the micro-USB cable.

However, the problem with this non-removable battery type of mod is that when you drained your battery power, there is no other option but to find an outlet to plug your device, or else, you’ll be out of vape for a while. But you can still use the device while charging.

Firing this mod, the firing button is actually not a button, rather, a rectangular-shaped bar located at the opposite side of the 510 thread. When I tested this unusually designed firing bar, it was impressively responsive. However, due to its size and design, there is a possibility of accidental vaping, especially if you forgot to lock/turn off the firing bar – to lock it, simply press the top half portion of the firing bar for five consecutive times.

Other relevant features of the OSUB Plus mod are the 510 spring-loaded connection, the bright OLED screen, the reset button and the five ventilation holes at the bottom of the mod and the small (+) and (-) adjustment buttons.

Accessing the menu of the Smoktech OSUB Plus, you can notice that it bears the same features of the classic SMOK menu. Simply press the firing button for three consecutive times to open the options.

It’s not an easy to navigate menu system for beginners, it features advanced options for TCR and atomizer resistance adjustments that may be quite complicated for new vapers.

But for long term vapers who wants to perform multiple tweaking on their devices, the OSUB Plus menu can be your playground and set the configurations that would match your preference.

The menu features five different firing modes, you can choose between Soft, Normal, Min., Hard and Max. It also allows you to choose between the wattage and temperature mode. And you can navigate through the temp. control and select from the different supported materials, SS, Ni200 and Titanium. The display can also be configured; you can change its orientation and adjust the brightness and contrast.

Test driving the SMOK OSUB Plus, with V8 Baby-Q2 coils at 40W, it already chimed out favorable clouds and I had no experience of delays in firing.

The battery life on the other hand, given that I am a heavy vaper, I got a total of eight hours of vaping at 50W before the battery finally drained itself up. For new vapers, the 3300mah battery capacity might be enough for full day vaping.

Brit Beast Tank

The Brit Beast is a mid-sized tank at 3.5ml e-juice capacity. It measures 24.5mm by 43mm and weighs 39g. It has a top-filling system, wide bore delrin drip tip and the two large adjustable airflows were placed at the bottom of the tank.

The V8 Baby-Q2 that comes pre-installed in this tank offers a resistance of 0.4ohm at 40W-80W wattage range.

With the petite and bulky design of the Brit Beast, the vapor coming from the coil head travels lesser distance towards to your mouth, combine that with the large airflow holes, using a sub-ohm coil, would give out massive amount of warm clouds.

Two weeks of using the Brit Beast, I had no issues of leaking. There were no incidents of moisture forming on the airflow slots.

However, there were some spit-back upon initial use of this tank. But recedes when you refill the tank.

Another flaw is that the standard 510 drip tip is not compatible with the Brit Beast tank. You have no other option but to use the V-shape drip tip included in the package.

Overall, the SMOK OSUB Plus starter kit is a decent device that has an impressive built and performance. The mid-firing power bar is stylish and comfortable to use. And the battery life at 3300mah can last you all day of vaping. I would recommend this to vapers who seek a portable mod kit with additional power output and great battery life.
